Workshop on reporting the news honestly.  Beth Tikvah Synagogue has been fortunate to obtain the services of Michael Fegelman of HonestReporting Canada.  HonestReporting Canada is an independent grass-roots organization promoting fairness and accuracy in Canadian media coverage of Israel and the Middle East.  With the assistance of their over 23,000 members from coast to coast, HRC monitors the media, recognizes excellence and exposes inaccuracy and bias in Canadian reporting on the region.  HRC members work together to examine the role journalists play in shaping the news, subjecting news reporting to rigorous and methodical investigation, and preventing distorted coverage.  In short, they are in favour of honest reporting.

Beth Tikvah Program Notices

Beth Tikvah, together with RJDS, are excited to announce a new program to the Richmond Community: A Grade 5, 6, 7 Shabbat Service where our kids lead the service in partnership with Rabbi Kaiser-Blueth. A private kids only Shabbat Dinner service for our 5, 6 and 7's will follow directly after the service.

Adult Education  - TBA

Introduction to Judaism  -  Many of us have not been able to continue our Jewish studies. Many of us have so many questions which are unanswered. Too many grew up with a set of ideas and explanations of our traditions which do not satisfy us today. This course will focus on a serious overview of our History and our Traditions in 20 sessions.
When: Every Monday from 8:00pm to 9.15pm.   Starting date TBA
Registration: In our Office

Kehila  -  Every Monday, our seniors are invited to participate in a lovely and “haimish” get-together with many activities, lunch and friendship. 9:45am to 2:00pm. (Not during July or August)

Leman Achai  -  Our Leman Achai  (for the sake of our brother and sister) group is augmenting their activities.  Those who are in this group will visit people at their homes, help celebrate a great simchah or share moments of grief with a member in need. Would you like to be part of this group and perform a great Mitzvah for others?  Contact the Office.

Women's League  -  We offer education, community service, support to the Conservative movement, (and fun!).  Watch e-mails and Chai Lights for details on all our programs. Give us your support and help us grow and contribute to our community.

TAG  -  You may know that TAG is an educational and social program for Jewish teens that promotes experiential learning and critical thinking.  Beth Tikvah, Beth Israel and Or Shalom have joined the party, and formed a new steering committee. The committee's first innovation was to relocate the program to King David High School.  TAG meets on Monday evenings from 6:00pm to 8:45pm.  Students take 3 elective courses and socialize in between. Students can join the group at any time during the school year. For more information, contact  tagbc@telus.net.

2 Year Old Program - runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:30am to 11:30 am. Registration is open for attendance on 1,2,3 or all 4 days. Friday mornings feature an outstanding Shabbat program which includes candle lighting, challah and grape juice. Our 2 year old program is a warm, nurturing environment where your child has the opportunity to interact with other children in a Jewish setting. As well as being introduced into a program developing the skills for a 2 year old child, Beth Tikvah also provides the introduction to basic Jewish customs and holidays.

Shabbat Shalom Program - is designed specifically for children 3 - 5 years old. Held on Friday mornings, it features a comprehensive Shabbat experience with games, arts and crafts, songs, candle lighting, challah and grape juice. Please register with the Beth Tikvah Office.

Child-friendly early Shabbat Service and Dinner  -  Every third Friday night of the month, we come together to celebrate Shabbat and have a great dinner.  We sing, we bless our children, we say the main prayers and blessings, all geared to our youngsters.  Call our office to be part of this experience.

Shorashim - 1-2 year olds and their parents - focusing on Shabbat play, song, dance, story and activity. Kiddush over wine and motzi over challah are included. Members are free, non-members $5.00.
Nitzanim - 3-5 years old and their parents. Encourages children and their parents to explore Shabbat themes through art, song, and movement. Members are free, non-members $10.00 per session. Includes Kiddush Lunch afterwards.
First Saturday of each month at 11:00am. Call the Beth Tikvah office to RSVP, or for more information.
