Workshop on reporting the news
honestly. Beth Tikvah Synagogue has been fortunate to
obtain the services of Michael Fegelman of HonestReporting
Canada. HonestReporting Canada is an independent grass-roots
organization promoting fairness and accuracy in Canadian
media coverage of Israel and the Middle East. With the
assistance of their over 23,000 members from coast to coast,
HRC monitors the media, recognizes excellence and exposes
inaccuracy and bias in Canadian reporting on the region.
HRC members work together to examine the role journalists
play in shaping the news, subjecting news reporting to
rigorous and methodical investigation, and preventing
distorted coverage. In short, they are in favour of
honest reporting.
Beth Tikvah, together with RJDS, are excited to announce a new
program to the Richmond Community: A Grade 5, 6, 7 Shabbat
Service where our kids lead the service in partnership with
Rabbi Kaiser-Blueth. A private kids only Shabbat Dinner service
for our 5, 6 and 7's will follow directly after the service.
Adult Education - TBA
Introduction to Judaism - Many of us have not been able to continue our Jewish
studies. Many of us have so many questions which are unanswered.
Too many grew up with a set of ideas and explanations of our
traditions which do not satisfy us today. This course will focus
on a serious overview of our History and our Traditions in 20
sessions.
When: Every Monday from 8:00pm to 9.15pm. Starting
date TBA
Registration: In our Office
Kehila - Every
Monday, our seniors are invited to participate in a lovely and
“haimish” get-together with many activities, lunch and
friendship. 9:45am to 2:00pm. (Not during July or August)
Leman Achai - Our
Leman Achai (for the sake of our brother and
sister) group is augmenting their activities. Those who
are in this group will visit people at their homes, help
celebrate a great simchah or share moments of grief with
a member in need. Would you like to be part of this group and
perform a great Mitzvah for others? Contact the Office.
Women's League - We
offer education, community service, support to the Conservative
movement, (and fun!).
Watch e-mails and Chai Lights for details on all our programs.
Give us your support and help us grow and contribute to our
community.
TAG -
You may know that TAG is an educational and social program for
Jewish teens that promotes experiential learning and critical
thinking. Beth Tikvah, Beth Israel and Or Shalom have
joined the party, and formed a new steering committee. The
committee's first innovation was to relocate the program to King
David High School.
TAG meets on Monday evenings from 6:00pm to 8:45pm.
Students take 3 elective courses and socialize in between.
Students can join the group at any time during the school year.

tagbc@telus.net.
